PPL – Your First Step towards Flying

If you want to fly in the air or wish to fly plane or helicopter, after the training, the first thing you need is PPL. PPL is a short form refers to Private Pilot License. With this license the flyer gets the permission to proceed as a pilot in command for the non commercial aircraft, such as private jet or plane. There are certain requirements set by ICAO, which is the International Civil Aviation Authority for obtaining the PP license. However, the execution is different in all countries.

There are many aeronautical institutes and schools, which are offering several courses to obtain PPL. However, the course is quite costly as only in United State, the interested candidate needs to pay an amount between four thousand dollars to nine thousand dollars. The fee structure varies depending on the aircraft, school or institute’s size and location. Whereas, if you are residing in Europe, the price offered by the schools are one and half times more than the price in the US. All this cost estimation is for a fixed wing aircraft which is single engine, however if you want to acquire the Private Pilot License for helicopter flying then the course expense is double. You can also avail the online education facility, as there are many institutes which offer PPL online theory courses for the desired candidates. So, those who cannot attend regular classes can also earn this certificate or license.

The basic requirement for the Private Pilot License is that the candidate’s age should be minimum seventeen year and he/she must have passed the PPL theory examination. In order to get the Private Pilot License, the candidate needs to complete forty hours of flight time along with seven written exams. Whereas the hours of flight time required getting the license is forty five in the United Kingdom.
